Calculate the size of a black or galvanized steel tube

To find out the length of tubes required for a tubular fitting, add the insertion reference value from the table above 20mm for 1/2″ tubes and 25mm for 3/4″ tubes depending on the size of the direct fitting, as these will be inserted into the female fitting.

Example of an industrial luminaire

In this example we have mixed direct and screwed plumbing connections.
If we want a distance of 300mm between the central tube and the center of the E27 socket:

  1. We need to know the distance between the center of the 90° elbow and the edge of the 90° elbow.
In this case, we've opted for a 3/4″ direct connection size (26.9mm tube). On the 90° elbow's product sheet, you can find the technical diagram of its dimensions, which informs us of a distance of 42mm.
The same applies to the equal tee connection, which is also 42mm.

  2. Subtract 2 x 42mm (1x for the elbow and 1x for the tee) from our starting dimension (300mm) - which gives us 216mm.
This gives us the dimension between the 2 female elbow and tee connections.

  3. Next, we need to add the part that will be inserted into the direct female connections on each side.
To do this, we take the value from the insertion table above.
In our case, we're talking about a 3/4″ direct fitting size, so the reference value is 25mm, which we add to our distance of 216mm for each female fitting (1x elbow and 1x tee).
    We'll therefore need a 266mm tube (25mm + 216mm + 25mm).

  4. In this example we've mixed E27 industrial-style 3/4″ screw-in plumbing sockets with direct assembly fittings.
To make the tubular connection we therefore have single-threaded 35mm tubes.
